Make sure that no one is immoral or godless like Esau, who traded his birthright as the firstborn son for a single meal. You know that afterward when he wanted his father’s blessing, he was rejected. It was too late for repentance, even though he begged with bitter tears. Hebrews 12:16-17 NLT

Life on Earth comes in different times and seasons. There are high moments and low moments, times of prosperity and adversity, times of plenty as well as times of lack, moments of abundance and scarcity, times of abundant joy, and times of deep sorrow. However, no condition here on earth is permanent.

Whichever season you are now will not last forever because life on this side of eternity is short and transient. So, be careful how you live and what you do in each of your fleeting days in the present age.

The choices you make at the different times and seasons will determine your final status and location in eternity where everything is permanent and not subject to any form of change. So, always exercise great caution in the Holy Spirit when you are confronted with opportunities to choose between two conflicting interests.

As Esau’s life reveals, there are certain mistakes with lasting consequences that bitter tears and repentance cannot remove. No matter how tough the time may appear, no matter the pain you are going through right now or the pleasure and happiness you are experiencing presently, never trade off your spiritual inheritance in Christ for immediate satisfaction. The hardship, stress, and agony you are currently going through or whatever gain and pleasure you are enjoying now are not worth comparing with the far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory which you are to receive after now.

Therefore, never make the mistake of taking any decision based on what you WANT now but on what you NEED in the long term. Always remember there is eternity, a place where you can no longer undo what you have done on earth. May the God of all grace give you sufficient grace never to forfeit your glorious inheritance for one morsel of meat that will later land you in eternal sorrow in Jesus’ name. Good morning and do have a fruitful week.

Your brother,
