FOUNDATION

“”So then, everyone who hears my words and puts them into practice is like a wise man. He builds his house on the rock. The rain comes down. The water rises. The winds blow and beat against that house. But it does not fall. It is built on the rock. “But everyone who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man. He builds his house on sand. The rain comes down. The water rises. The winds blow and beat against that house. And it falls with a loud crash.” Matthew‬ 7:24-27

On what principles are you building your life or placing your hopes both now and in the future? Any life or venture that is not founded on the divine and eternal foundation as revealed by the words taught by Jesus will endure but only for a moment no matter how “successful” it may appear now.

The true and lasting foundation that is already laid is Jesus Christ, and everything besides Him is sand. So, it is foolish to build your hopes upon worldly prosperity, your accomplishments, your intelligence, traditions, your past experiences and outward profession of religion. These are all sand, false hope and false security. They are too weak to support you in the days of flood and storms.

Any house built on a weak foundation is bound to collapse when the fierce storm comes, when the builder will have the most need of it and expected to shelter him from the storm. Then it will be too late to build another. It’s risky just to hear the word of God and refuse to do what it says.

On the contrary, it’s  much safer to anchor your life on the teachings of Jesus no matter how hard they may seem to the flesh. May the Lord help to give the more earnest heed to the word of God you hear today, so that you may not drift away. Good morning and do have a victorious and fruitful week.
