Sarah lived one hundred and twenty-seven years; these  were the years of the life of Sarah. So Sarah died in Kirjath Arba (that is, Hebron) in the land of Canaan, and Abraham came to mourn for Sarah and to weep for her. Then Abraham stood up from before his dead, and spoke to the sons of Heth, saying, “I am a foreigner and a visitor among you. Give me property for a burial place among you, that I may bury my dead out of my sight.”
Genesis 23:1‭-‬4 NKJV

No matter how long and how well a person lives in this world, the truth is that the life in this divide of eternity must shortly come to an end. But thanks be to our God that there is another world in view where sin, pain, loss, vanity, vexation and even death cannot enter.

It is an earthly reality that those whom we love most, even our own bodies we so much care for will soon become something we must quickly bury out of our sight no matter the level of our emotional attachment and earthly adornment for flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God.

How then do you care for your soul which cannot die and cannot be buried but must return to God, the Maker and the Creator. Always remember this, no matter the longevity or brevity of years anyone lived on earth, life here on earth is just an opportunity to prepare for eternity where death cannot occur again.

What determines everyone’s placement in eternity is neither how long or how brief our stay on earth is, it is not our standard of living on earth nor our social status, positions or our earthly accomplishments. It is simply the choice we made while we are still alive in the body on earth.

Those who truly belong to God and desire to end there journey on earth with Him in His eternal Kingdom where there is no pain, sorrow, tears but eternal joy and rest  know that they are foreigners and sojourners on earth. So, they choose not to conform to the patterns, principles and lifestyle of the world.

Rather, they are transformed by the daily renewing of their minds, seeking what is the best, reasonable and acceptable service to their God to whom they must return one day to render the accounts of their stay on earth. They steadfastly look ahead with hope to a better country designed and constructed by God and where their glorious and everlasting inheritance in Christ is laid for them to receive and enjoy when they finally reach home. May the Lord help you likewise to be careful how you live here on earth, choosing daily to live with constant expectation of Christ’s second coming and maximizing every opportunity to serve His purpose while you are still alive. Good morning and do have a fruitful day.
