But when the Ark arrived at Gath, the Lord’s heavy hand fell on its men, young and old; he struck them with a plague of tumors, and there was a great panic. The people summoned the Philistine rulers again and begged them, “Please send the Ark of the God of Israel back to its own country, or it will kill us all.” For the deadly plague from God had already begun, and great fear was sweeping across the town. Those who didn’t die were afflicted with tumors; and the cry from the town rose to heaven.
1 Samuel 5:9‭, ‬11‭-‬12 NLT

No one mocks God without paying a heavy price, either immediately or ultimately. God’s name is not to be taken lightly but revered, for He is the One true God and jealous God that will not compromise His holiness and allow anyone to share or takes His glory.

The hand of the Lord came heavily upon the Philistines for judgement and He severely chastised their impenitent behaviour after several warnings. They had every opportunity to renounce Dagon and accept the true God of Israel, but instead of seeking God’s mercy, they desired to get clear of His Ark.

The same goes even till today, when the carnal hearts come under direct divine conviction, rather than
accept responsibility for their misdeed, seek to enter into covenant or communion with Jesus and desire to make Him their friend, they dodge or ignore God’s warning. They hide away or put Him far away from them. Unfortunately, every of their devices to escape the divine judgements only increase them.

It is an eternal truth that those that fight against God will soon have enough of it. Never take God’s dealings with you lightly or despise the warnings of the Lord. As great as His love, so also His judgement can be very severe. May the Lord help you to always tremble at His Word and not trample on it. Good morning and enjoy your day.
