Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. Galatians 5:1 NKJV

Literally, to be free means to gain independence and liberation from slavery. However, in the New Testament Bible freedom means liberation from sin’s deadly bondage so that we may enjoy an intimate relationship with God.

So, through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, you have been set free from the hold of sin and its wages which is death (Romans 6:18-23), from the law and its punishments (Romans 7:3-4; Galatians 2:4) from Satan and his cohorts (Colossians 2:15) and from the coming wrath of God upon the disobedient which is eternal damnation in hell fire (John 3:16-17; Rev. 20:15).

However, your new freedom and new status in Christ do not leave you in a vacuum, void of responsibility and it is not a license to do as you wish. Rather, it is a liberty to fulfill your created purpose which includes loving God and serving God and His people wholeheartedly. May the Lord help you to fulfill His appointed purpose while you are still living and you will not be found wanting on the day of His coming that is fast approaching in Jesus’ name. Good morning and have a fruitful week.

Your brother,
