Therefore take careful heed to yourselves, that you love the Lord your God. Or else, if indeed you do go back, and cling to the remnant of these nations—these that remain among you—and make marriages with them, and go into them and they to you, know for certain that the Lord your God will no longer drive out these nations from before you. But they shall be snares and traps to you, and scourges on your sides and thorns in your eyes, until you perish from this good land which the Lord your God has given you.
Joshua 23:11-13 NKJV
God’s ultimate desire for all His children everywhere is a love relationship. He would not want us to neglect, take for granted, or compromise it for whatever reason. No matter what, He expects us to cultivate, nurture and protect our walk with Him thereby preparing ourselves to love Him wholeheartedly.
The practical demonstration of our love for God is in our obedience to His commands. Also, the fulfillment of God’s promises and covenants for our lives is contingent on our faithfulness to walk with Him and obey His Word.
God is not obligated to bless us regardless of how we live. That will not be consistent with His nature. God’s blessings flow into our lives only when we love Him supremely, walk faithfully before Him and serve Him wholeheartedly. He defeats our enemies and gives us victory everywhere when our obedience is complete.
On the contrary, He uses our enemies to discipline us when we are unfaithful and disobedient to His command. May God give you the ears that hear God’s Word and the heart that is both receptive and obedient to His counsel always. Good morning and do have a blessed day.
