So listen to the people and do what they say. But give them a warning. Tell the people what a king will do to them. Tell them how a king rules people…” So Samuel told them everything the Lord said. Samuel said, “If you have a king ruling over you, this is what he will do: He will take away your sons and force them to serve him… He will take one-tenth of your flocks. “And you yourselves will become slaves of this king. When that time comes, you will cry because of the king you chose. But the Lord won’t answer you at that time.”
1 Sam. 8:9‭-‬11‭, ‬17‭-‬18 ERV

The prerequisites for God’s guidance include reverence, submission, obedience and humility toward Him. God rewards faithful obedience and satisfies humbled hearts. Insisting on our own way obstructs God’s better plan for our lives and robs us of His blessing.

However, when we clamour for our own desires, God sometimes lets us have our way but not without grave consequences. When we reject God’s will for our lives, we then experience life apart from Him, without His protection and His blessing.

Nothing is more devastating in life than to live apart from God. It’s only when we walk in God’s way, and follow His direction and guidance that we can experience lasting joy, peace and rest. Apart from His presence in your life, we can do nothing of eternal significance. May the Lord help you to acknowledge Him as your Lord and submit to His rule all the days of your life. Good morning and do have a blessed weekend.
